An Invitation to Do Less
“The lighter we feel, the closer we are to ourselves.” ~ Chloe Wing
How we’ll work together:
F.M. Alexander said, “You translate everything, whether physical, mental, or spiritual, into muscular tension.”
The Alexander Technique is a mind-body modality for movement re-education and self care. It is the practice of doing less to achieve more.
During your lesson, we’ll work together to explore the habitual patterns you have, both physically and in your thinking, that interfere with your ability to move with ease, confidence, and intention.
Through a combination of verbal communication, light hands on direction, body mapping, and repetition of physical activity specific to your individual needs, we’ll bring awareness to you habits, and notice what happens when you change them.
Together, we’ll discover how doing less gets you more.
More physical comfort.
More confidence.
More ease.
Alexander Technique with me is right for you if:
you’re seeking to reduce chronic pain due to illness, injury, or daily ware and tear
you’re an actor, singer or performer experiencing stage fright or physical challenges that interfere with your performance
You’re seeking tools to help you slow down your constantly racing mind
Testimonials
“If you have any sort of chronic pain or bad physical habits that are affecting how you feel…you should call Jess Pollack pronto. She worked some kind of crazy magic (otherwise known as Alexander Technique) on my back yesterday. I injured my back while traveling and yesterday I woke up super uncomfortable. She had me do some breath work and physical movement while she worked on certain pats of my body. I woke up this morning completely pain free. She does happen to be my sister but that’s why you should listen to me even more - as she will attest, I can sometimes be a harsh critic of those i love.”

“Alexander Technique (AT) has dramatically improved my life in so many ways. I have significantly reduced tension in my body which has enhanced my performance physically and mentally. AT allowed me to significantly enhance both my yoga and mixed martial arts practices. AT also allowed me to enhance my creative ability prompting me to create a brand new workout called Yoxing which blends yoga and MMA practices. I have worked with Jess several times and can say she is superbly skilled in the art of AT. Jess has an innate sense for finding tension in the body of her students, and a unique gentle style when working to reduce that tension. She gives clear and concise verbal and physical cues to help students become aware of tension and consciously let go of it. Jess provides a safe, warm atmosphere, with lots of encouragement and reinforcement of learned skills. I recommend working with her to anyone who wants to feel better in their own body…no matter what your personal background or line of work happens to be.”

“I didn’t know anything about the Alexander Technique but was immediately intrigued by the way Jess explained it. I started Zoom sessions with her and found that, in less than 30 minutes, I was able to achieve a level of relaxation that I didn’t think was possible. My posture is. better for it and I have a greater awareness of my body’s own space. Jess is a dedicated practitioner - she makes sure that classes make sense to you and have immediate application in your life. I highly recommend Jess!”
